ESA

Sweden is one of the founding members of the European Space Agency, ESA, and ESA has high importance for most Swedish space activities. The Swedish contribution to ESA accounts for about 75 % of the SNSB budget, so almost 700 million SEK is used for ESA projects every year.

Sweden participates in the mandatory basic and scientific programs as well as in the optional programs on earth observation, telecommunications, technology, exploration, microgravity, launcher development, international space station, space situational awareness and navigation. The Swedish part of the mandatory programs is at present 2.55%. The Swedish participation in ESA optional programs is listed below.

 

  • GMES Service Element: ≈2.5 %
  • Global Monitoring of Essential Climat Variables: ≈1.9 %
  • Earth Observation Envelope Programme: ≈3 % (EOEP 2), 1,26% (EOEP 3)
  • GMES Space Component: ≈4.4 %

  • Meteosat Third Generation: ≈3.2 %

  • European GNSS Evolution Programme: ≈1.0 %.

  • Aurora ExoMars: ≈0,7 %.
  • Ariane 5: ≈3.0 %.
  • FLPP: ≈5 %.
